Interested in a career in the legal profession and want to learn more about how to progress? We are a team of mentors ready to encourage, support and motivate you to take the best steps to help you on your journey.
Our volunteer mentors are professionals who are qualified legal practitioners. You will have the opportunity of being mentored by a solicitor, a barrister, a legal executive or a paralegal. We also have trainee legal apprentices who can advise students interested in the legal apprenticeship route.
You can apply to be a mentee if you are aged 16- 19years old and are in 6th form at school or college. You must be enthusiastic about law and ready to commit to at least 2 hours a month with your mentor (for 3 months).
My mentor, Jade, has helped me the most in my legal journey so far, as I originally did not intend to pursue law but upon having mentoring sessions with them they have never pressured me into law. Rather Jade encouraged me to pursue my other interests before trying to become a barrister.
The mentoring sessions have truly been inspiring as often I felt pressured to do an LLB course rather than to pursue politics. Not only that, my mentor has supported me to present myself as a well rounded individual. -Akleema Year 2 Law A level student
My mentor has helped me quite a lot as I do not know anybody who has pursued law to be able to gain an insight into it, but through them I have been able to learn the expectations of advocacy and how busy yet interesting their week can be. Moreover, my mentor has never made an effort to sugarcoat how demanding it can be to pursue a legal career and this has made me all the more eager, especially after hearing their journey when becoming a barrister!

My Tyro lawyer sessions with Sheena was amazing, I was able to ask so many questions and get a real insight to law. She guided me through my research and helped me obtain work experience which was great. All in all I can only say it was a phenomenal experience. - Rabia - A Level student
My sessions with Kiran have been very helpful! I have learnt a lot about how prison works as well as programmes to help offenders. Kiran also helped me with my UCAS statement, giving me pointers and helping me with what I should include as well as how to structure it. I definitely believe my understanding on how prison works for some offenders has gotten better - Sayeda (A level student)
The programme is amazing as you have mentors who dedicate their time as they believe in you, and will encourage you along your journey - Year 2 A level Law student (Sandwell)
My seasons with Arpan were useful and very informative. She gave me endless advice in the sessions that I did have with her, she answered any new questions I had each session that was law related and college related. She gave me an insight on how to achieve my goals and how to carry out my law journey and the ways to get there.
Thank you so much for this opportunity. - Aisha (Applied Law student)

I really enjoyed my sessions with James, he explained everything in depth and detail. He was particularly helpful shedding light on studying law at university and the qualifications after that in order to become a barrister. I really appreciated the opportunity to have an insight into a career in law. - Alice (A level student)
The mentoring was one of the most useful things i ever took part in. My mentor (Marek) told me about a route of becoming a solicitor which was through an apprenticeship.
He helped me find 5 different law firms within Birmingham and gave me a lot of advice on how to get the apprenticeship, what I should do and how i can do it.
I loved it, would definitely recommend to others - Miene (A level student)
My mentoring sessions went very well. I really enjoyed them and I learnt a lot of useful skills and knowledge that are required when being a barrister from Matthew, my mentor.
Very special thanks to my mentor for being very helpful and encouraging.
